KD:M survivor (WIP 1)

21 June 2018

Hi!

Trajann Valoris is finished, still waiting to make some decent photos and write down the colour mixtures. Should be able to finish this next week.

Had some time and started a new project – this time something much, much simpler and easier to paint – a KD:M Survivor custom miniature I build.

The head is a standard head from the set – nothing special was done with it.

The body is based on an old Rakham model. Although I really like the sculpt, it was cast badly – to the point the head would need to be rebuilt –  and I decided to try something else.

The head was removed, and I drilled a suitable hole for the head. Furthermore, I also removed the markings on the cloak.

Everything was then painted with a Valleyo Primer.

Head

The head was painted in exactly the same manner as was Trajann – I really like the colour mix and I am a bit afraid I will not be able to replicate this when my pot of Elf Flesh is finished : (

The mix is:

  • Base: Elf Flesh + Wild Rider Red (8:1), both by Games Workshop
  • Shades: Added Chestnut Brown (by Reaper Miniatures) to the base
  • Darkest shades / Glazes: shaded with Burgundy Wine (again by Reaper Miniatures)
  • Highlights: added Linen White (by Reaper Miniatures) to the base
  • Last highlights / Glazes: pure white

As for the hair it was done with Mars Orange  mixed with Flat Black (both by Scale75). Highlights were done by adding more Mars Orange and Linen White.

Finally – there were some glazes with Chestnut Brown (by Reaper Miniatures)

Hope you like it!
